Day1: AIRPORT- DAMBULLA/ SIGIRIYA/HABARANA 160 Kms.
Arrive at the Colombo International Airport, You will be met and greeted by Tours representative, and transferred to Sigiriya. Visit Dambulla cave temple and Sigiriya Rock fortress in the sky, both are world heritage monuments in Sri Lanka.
Dambulla cave temple) also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There total of 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include two statues of Hindu gods, the god Vishnu and the god Ganesh. The murals cover an area of 2,100 square meters. Depictions on the walls of the caves include the temptation by the demon Mara, and Buddha’s first sermon.
Sigiriya is a large stone and ancient rock fortress and palace ruin in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. A popular tourist destination, Sigiriya is also renowned for its ancient paintings frescos which are reminiscent of the Ajanta Caves of India. It is one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. It is also declared by UNESCO as the 8th Wonder of the World. Sigiriya may have been inhabited through prehistoric times. It was used as a rock-shelter mountain monastery from about the 5th century BC, with caves prepared and donated by devotees of the Buddhist Sangha. According to the chronicles as Mahavamsa the entire complex was built by King Kashyapa (AD 477 – 495), and after the king’s death, it was used as a Buddhist monastery until 14th century.
Day2: SIGIRIYA- PINNAWELA- KANDY
Day starts early for those who wants to be part of the Wildlife safari.
Transfer to Minneria national park for the early morning safari. Minneria The national park’s faunal species include 24 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 9 species of amphibians, 25 species of reptiles, 26 species of fish, and 75 species of butterflies
After breakfast today transfer to Kandy. En-route you will visit the Pinnawella Elephant Orphanage, where you will witness baby and other orphan elephants being groomed and fed.
Upon arrival in Kandy take a tour of the ancient City, where you will drive past the famous Queens hotel, Temple of the tooth relic, the Kandy lake and upper lake road where you can take in a spectacular view of the city. visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. The gardens were originally built as a pleasure garden for the Kandyan Queen. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of plant and flower species. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Kandy.
Day3: KANDY-NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast at leisure, you will be transferred to Nuwara Eliya. En-route take in the scenic beauty of Sri Lanka’s most popular Hill resort. Vist the tea factory enroute to experience how the world famous Sri Lankan tea is made. Also have an opportunity to taste different teas and buy some straight from the factory to take some tea back home.. Upone arrival visit the lake, Sita Amman temple and few Ramayana sites. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18-hole golf Courses in South Asia. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
After breakfast today, you will be transferred to the beach where you may spend the rest of the day at leisure. One can indulge in various water sports activities on additional cost. Photo shoot at the beach is the highlight of the day. Overnight in Beruwela/ Bentota.
After Breakfast today, you will be transferred to Colombo. Upon arrival, you will begin your Colombo City tour. The tour sites include: the Pettah Bazzar, a Hindu and Buddhist temple, the old Parliament, Colombo Museum, and the Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall. Overnight in Colombo.
Day6: DEPART COLOMBO
After breakfast today, you will be transferred to the airport in time to board your flight back home.
